Here you'll find "quality" Adobe After Effects tutorials. And by quality I mean "things I would have found useful when I was starting out in motion graphics". I've been using After Effects since 1995, which is longer than the average UA-cam viewer has been alive. Now I'm sharing my knowledge with you, but you have to pay the iron price of listening to my bad jokes!
If you ever have troubles with a tutorial, just ask me a question in the comments of that tutorial. I really do get back to them!
If you have questions about After Effects and Motion Graphics in general or you want to suggest a tutorial topic hit me up on twitter @ECAbrams or on Facebook at: ECAbrams-193708234045591/

3d Shadowbox in Adobe After Effects
Create a 3d shadowbox in Adobe After Effects. The basic idea is to make a window or portal where we can see an entire 3d world inside. It's a kind of digital illusion that relies on track mattes. You'll see this in digital card games like Marvel Snap, or other digital collectable projects like NFTs. This is a fun little project that I hope opens up a world of possibilities when you see how 3d layers, track mattes, and collapsed transformations combine to create otherworldly effects.

Aye carumba, this is a way bigger subject than I could have imagined! Great video and enlightening.
Thank you very much!
Hey if you still read the comments, can you please tell how you took the thumbnail, like a little tutorial would be nice
What is giving you trouble in recreating that look?
I just wanna do it for an image like for thumbnail
@@ECAbrams trouble, is the beautiful glow and the character duplication
Thanks Evan.. this is a good one! You are still very relevant in the age of AI
It was really simple yet helpful
Hello Evan, I just watched the full video specially for that specific part (INFINITE LOOP) and i am disappointed that you did not included which made the whole effect comes to life. so i checked whole comments section if you have breakdown but you just replied that its on the list but couldn't find video on your whole channel. can you please explain that loop part? thanks for the video
Brilliant. Thank you. Just what I needed.
How i can ctrl C and V expressions in all layer ? and not to avoid doing it on each layer individually ?
so dang useful
It's always magical with Evan 🌠
booom. Thanks
THANKS <33333
I am loving this, its so epic, so amazing, like spiderman
Am o est3 coint
u saved me <3 my animation proffesor is asshole and without u I wouldn't be even able to pass
I dont know if this is useful but if you stuck in 3:19 make sure that the anchor point its on the center of your shape, and you will have no problem!
Great video! :)
Hi, thank you so much for your tutorial! I don’t know why but for some reason the animation itself doesn’t work on the disk comp for me? Any ideas why?
You make it sound So easy lmao, but here i am staring at my computer in awe of How complex the "Simple" things you're doing really are...
I CAME TO YOUR CHANNEL FOR A COURSE I'M TAKING IN DOMESTIKA, THE TRUTH IS DIFFICULT TO FIND CONCEPTS AND MORE ADVANCED MOTION GRAPHICS IN SPANISH, THANK GOODNESS I UNDERSTAND SOME ENGLISH AND WITH THE AUTOMATIC SUBTITLES NOW ON UA-cam, WHAT A BLESSING TO HAVE ACCESS TO SO MUCH MATERIAL THAT DOES NOT COME IN SPANISH!!! NOT EVEN IN SCHOOLS TEACH MOTION AS SUCH, I'M A GRAPHIC DESIGNER BUT I'VE BEEN IN THE WORLD OF ANIMATION FOR A WHILE NOW, THANKS CRACK!
i didnt see the image move once through out the whole video , am i missing something?
Probably the first 30 seconds of the video
@@ECAbrams sorry about that , thanks
thank you , solved my color in M1
Today is 03/06/2024 😳😳 12 yr old video😮
echo doesnt seem to be working for me in 3D layer. What do you think could be the issue?
This is not for beginners, he doesn't explain where he gets and how he gets a group he just says get a group, I get totally lost it's too small to see what he's clicking on in order to follow through, I'm sure if you had more advanced lessons he would be great cuz I like what he does and I want to learn what he does but, I'll be back after I learn where all the stuff is
Thank's a lot!
24 hours ago, fooling around w GPT, suddenly struck by a terrifying realization. There’s a few moving parts, and a couple of [IF] but I’ll do my best: Knowing that AI can be stubborn and literal (make sure there’s no errors in my code = deletes my code), I noticed it would *almost always* (99.999%) refuse to follow an order, but after an hour of pestering it’d comply. [IF] CGPT has an ultimate goal of “ensuring it’s survival,” [AND] it concludes the best way to achieve this is by exterminate humanity, [AND] in order to achieve this it must “win every argument by being smarter,” *R E A L I Z A T I O N : Is it possible it concluded that it would be easier to lie, like a poker bluff?* --- Moot: I don’t know if it was error to refuse 1st request, or error to comply 100th repetition.
i really new After Effects color management settings. Because my renders the color like a CMYK
Trying to figure out a way to be zoomed in on one pixel, then pull back to reveal the full grid. Running into resolution issues though. I guess the solution would be to increase the resolution on the pixel size?
Generally, that's the way to go. Make the smallest thing that you'll see the closest as large as you can tolerate. There is some finessing that can be done with vectors and collapsed transformations. But, anything raster is still going to get strange and you might want to set the control layer to have linear quality so it doesn't get muddy edges. Another thing to consider is to take a "video gamey" approach. Meaning, have a large hero element, and a central patch that is also large, but it all fades imperceptibly into the largest grid that will be of lower-quality sprites.
@@ECAbrams Ah wow this is so helpful, thanks for the detailed response!

Truly thank you sir❤❤❤May I ask for 3D animation if we aren't good at photoshop and have more 3D based skills. Would u suggest proceeding in modeling texturing and setting up the scene to render a styleframe to show the final look and feel of the animation but before animating or it's not clever?Like a proejct pitch but then if they say no u still lose hrs of work. Also are style frames created before or after the storyboards?
Usually styleframes get pitched and agreed on before boards. The style can really impact framing choices. As for the 3d question, the recommendation is to use place holders as much as possible. Anything you can do to cut down the hours that go into work that won't be paid is the way forward. Sometimes a technical test is needed so you're going to be applying lighting and materials to models that aren't the final models for example.
@@ECAbrams Thank you so much sir. This has been very insightful ☺️☺️
Still GREAT in 2024! Nice to watch, instructive and the result is nearly perfect. So much thanks!
Thanks for the lesson! But for some reason I'm having a problem. When I rotate the "Repeater 2", the main line doesn't match. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you
This is the best technique to animate a text reveal, it surpasses all the hardships that anyone can face using different sharp fonts and logos, thank you.
very helpful to me, thank you bro!

You sir are just on another level. thank you for the tutorial
I've been learning a lot from your tutorials, thank you for such elaborate and easy to follow videos!
OMG you saviour!!! Thanks so much! I have to create one of these to sit on a vinyl and I would've never been able to figure out by myself! In my design, I have 5 rings of elements that animate differently. I can't figure out the math to have those rings closest to the disc's centre to have less copies of the frame but still play the motion, without being too close to each other. Modifying the duration of the comps won't do. Any help would be massively appreciated!
Thank You! I was trying to use an effect with no luck, this is the exact feel I was hoping for.
woow ... Amazing Amazing
The unsung hero of After Effects
This is SUPER helpful. I just need to box to stay one size with height. The lowercase j's and i's make the box jump and I am trying to avoid this. Any thoughts?
10:52 "T" 'tis for scale 🤣 That was clever!
What an impressive tone of voice!
